Writing (blogging) has become difficult this last month. It never comes easily, I am a master procrastinator, but December has been especially hard. I have felt that I have not had much to say, about what I have been reading or the literary world in general. After Christmas I plan to shake this away, however, for now I shall continue my longer periods of silence.1

In the interim enjoy this poem, it’s beautiful.

i carry your heart (i carry it in my heart)

i carry your heart with me (i carry it in
my heart) i am never without it (anywhere
i go you go, my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing, my darling)

i fear
no fate (for you are my fate, my sweet) i want
no world (for beautiful you are my world, my true)
and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows
higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that’s keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart (i carry it in my heart)

  1. I’ll be open to review requests as well []

I’m feeling similar about blogging at the moment, if I wasn’t currently sitting on a few post drafts I think my posts would be very dull or non-existent. I’m guessing it’s the year’s end that’s doing it. I like the poem, the way there are brackets makes it seem like song lyrics.

I do adore e.e. cummings and pretty much all of his work…but especially this one! great choice! louise xx
