Literary Life: April in Review

Brighton

Due to a rather uneventful March I appear to have forgotten to do any sort of Literary Life for it. Time passed monotonously, with the exception of the Daunt Books Festival, so you’ve not missed out.

I’ve always been a bit annoyed with April, that in between month where everything changes but nothing really happens. It’s a set up month, like June or November.

Yet this April has been predominately lovely. I’ve read a lot of (good) books and just generally felt a bit more like myself.

Currently Reading:

Ruby by Cynthia Bond

Unfinished:

Many, but I’ve given them to charity so I can’t remember what they are.

I’ve Read:

  1. The Thirty-Nine Steps – John Buchan
  2. Moranifesto – Caitlin Moran
  3. Hausfrau – Jill Alexander Essbaum
  4. Everything I Never Told You – Celeste Ng
  5. The Portable Veblen – Elizabeth Mckenzie
  6. The Green Road – Anne Enright
  7. The Snow Queen – Hans Christian Anderson
  8. Embers – Sándor Márai
  9. The Girls – Emma Cline
  10. Esther’s Inheritance – Sándor Márai

My April’s been nice! Bit busy, bit hot, but this week’s calmed down quite a bit and dropped about ten degrees of temperature, so it’s been quite good. May turning pleasant for my birthday. :D

Ooh, how was Everything I Never Told You? That’s been on my reading list for a while but I just haven’t gotten around to it yet. My April was pretty good for reading and my favorite book that I read was The Martian by Andy Weir. :)
