We all have moments in our lives when we say to ourselves, ‘I could never do that‘. Whether you are wondering how to fix your laptop, considering learning a new language, or deciding you are too old to learn new skills. It is so easy to feel defeated by our convenience based society, where if you don’t want to (or can afford not to) tackling frustrating challenges isn’t always necessary. For my friend Tania and I, this is a way of thinking we are attempting to challenge.
It started back in October when Tania came to me with her idea; we create a site where we challenge ourselves to do all the things we automatically assumed we could never do. Then, with all the resources we gather, other people can take up their own challenges. It is just a blog at the moment, but we want to develop it into a community.
Currently we are jointly tackling NaNoWriMo, Tania more successfully, before diverging. I was considering attempting German for December but, while rummaging for some speakers today I discovered my graveyard of broken laptops; I cannot afford to get them fixed, nor would it be worth the money to do so – can I fix them? It’s finally time to see!
I am also thinking of starting up a book club there, reading one book a month, so if any of you are interested in joining let me know!
