I fallen into the depths of my Letters of Note book, so this discussion post is more of a lament that an in-depth analysis. [Sorrynotsorry.] Once I am released by this tome I shall step up, I promise. [I make no promises.]
I think – no, I know – I’ve become a lazy blog visitor. Why? You may ask, because I’ve realised lately that it makes me sad when I can’t ‘like’ a post.
For any not in the know, the Jetpack plugin for WordPress allows a Facebook-esc function where you can ‘like’ a WordPress user’s blog post. It’s a fantastic tool, if you’ve not much time to comment or you don’t have much to say. However, it sucks the fun out of meaningful blogger to blogger conversation if over used – for me anyway.
It’s not that I don’t get a happy feeling every time someone ‘likes’ my own writing, I love it , it’s more that I lament my ability to pay proper attention to what I am reading. Henceforth I shall be making an effort to comment, where possible, on every blog post I ‘like’ – and more.
Do you misuse the power of the ‘like’ button? Do you even offer the option?
