Summer has reached England’s green and pleasant land, and if you are thinking, ‘boy, you must be happy’, you would be wrong.
It’s like you don’t know me at all.
But seriously, why so hot? However, also, thank you for not being cold. There is no winning.
June was delightful, I’ve read some cracking books. Usually my desire to read cools over the warmer months (see what I did there) yet I’m looking forward to all there is to read in July. I’ve fallen in love with translated fiction, in fact I should dedicate June 2016 to it. Don’t let me forget (I’ll definitely forget).
Currently Reading:
The Odyssey by Homer
King Solomon’s Mines by H. Rider Haggard
Mother Tongue by Bill Bryson
The Paying Guest by Sarah Waters
Unfinished:
None!
I’ve Read:
- The End Of Days by Jenny Erpenbeck
- The Blue Room by Georges Simenon
- Whiskey Tango Foxtrot by David Shafer
- Moominvalley in November by Tove Jansson
- Blackout by Sarah Hepola
- My Brilliant Friend by Elena Ferrante
I am a pale Irish girl. I feel your pain 🙂

Do you run into the shade as well? This head is cruel.

I like the cooler weather, too. Except for the camping…

Oh yes, camping would be much worse in the cold.

Far too warm. I can’t read outside in this weather and that is a real shame.

Definitely, it’s too sweaty in the sun at the moment.

Didn’t you love End of Days? I thought it was so very well written, and fully deserved the IFFP for 2015.
As for weather, we’re having the loveliest June/beginning of July ever which is most unusual for Illinois in the states. Usually, we’re a bathtub of humidity! Give me winter any day…

I did, it was so good!
Humidity is the worst, thank goodness you’re not suffering it.

I can totally sympathise. I love to see a bit of sunshine but when you really heat little, wet Britain up it just becomes humid which isn’t pleasant. I am glad you have been enjoying your reading and hope you continue too in July.

Thank you 🙂 I think July will be a good reading month too.
Humid is just the word, everything feels a little damp.

IT IS SO HOT HERE AND I AM GOING TO DIE. However, you still win and I will tell you why, which is that Louisiana has air-conditioning and England does not, even though England has a summer every year and should know by now that it’s going to happen, and prepare by buying itself plenty of window units or better yet, central air-conditioning. (That said, it’s super hot here. It’s going to be like 85 degrees at sunset today. SUNSET.)

You definitely win! Especially as my work place is on the those rare spaces with aircon.

Haha, you’re funny. 😀
I hope you have a great July with all the reading.
It’s getting coooold here. But my version of cold would be nothing compared to your winter. xD

Your cold is probably the temperature it is here now haha. I have such a low tolerance for temperature change (or any change really).

Not so good in fact, but I did manage to finish some books and get halfway between some, but I am going to read more. I promise that much!

Finishing and starting books is still good, sounds like a lovely reading month to me 😀

What did you think of Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? I’ve seen it at the library and thought about it, but not sure…
I’m not a fan of the hot weather either. It’s supposed to be in the 80s today and humid. While it’s not always cool where I work, I do get to go downstairs into our basement today which is usually cool, so I’m looking forward to that.
