The Liebster Award

The Liebster Award is given to up and coming bloggers who have less than 200 followers. So, what is a Liebster? The meaning: Liebster is German and means sweetest, kindest, nicest, dearest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing, and welcome. Isn’t that sweet? Blogging is about building a community and it’s a great way to connect with other bloggers and help spread the word about newer bloggers/blogs.

Anyone who has read my blog for a while (thank you!) will remember I have blogged about this award before. This time the lovely Lotte has nominated me (I also think someone else has so if you have and I’ve not noticed firstly I am sorry, and secondly let me know so I can link to you).

If you could abandon everything, no strings attached, where would you go?
For a break, L.A. or New York. Forever? London. I don’t want to be too far from home.

What’s your favourite (or one of your favourite) memory?
I don’t tend to remember the good things in a way that lets me recall them when I want, which is weird. So, I’m really not sure.

What games did you play as a child?
All sorts! Robin Hood is a personal favourite, I had my own bow and arrow.

What’s your favourite season?
Autumn (or maybe Spring) – I like it being warm enough so I don’t have to wear a coat and cold enough that I can snuggle into a jumper and fingerless gloves.

What’s a hobby/activity you have not had the chance to try yet, but would like to?
I would love to learn how to play the Violin, but I’m probably too old to do it well. (And too poor to be able to try.)

If you were a character from a movie, which character would it be and from which movie?
Veronica Mars, because she is awesome.

What are your three favourite books?
These aren’t my top three, as I find it hard to chose, but three of my favourites are: Parade’s End by Ford Madox Ford, The Secret History by Donna Tartt, and The Easter Parade by Richard Yates.

Do you have a set morning routine?
Wake, check phone, clean teeth, shower, procrastinate, and leave for work.

If you could make a t-shirt with a quote on it, what quote would you put on it?
‘In the middle of my backswing!?!’
‘Sure. Fine. Whatever.

What inspires you most to write a blog post?
A mind blowing book. Something that gets me thinking, even if I hated it.

What would your ideal home be, a city apartment, a house in the suburbs, or a rural house?
Hard question, I think city apartment would just about win. Rural would be lovely for holidays, but I can’t drive so would be impractical and too outside of the action.

Once again I would like to nominate anyone who would like to answer my questions, I still hate making decisions.

  1. What is the speed velocity of a laden swallow?
  2. If you could be any Kristen Bell character, who would it be?
  3. (Other than reading) what is your favourite thing to do you do to relax?
  4. What is the worst book you have read, and why?
  5. Is sarcasm the lowest form of wit?
  6. You’re stranded on a desert island and a book floats ashore, which book is it? (No surviving island life books allowed.)
  7. What’s your favourite song?
  8. Android or Apple?
  9. If you could be any literary character, who could you be?
  10. What literary character would you pull from fiction to the real world?

  1. Ha. I thought I was the only one who liked playing Robin Hood. Sadly, I had to make my own bow and arrows from a bendy sapling and fern stalks (I know!), and the bow never really worked. My pony used to be Friar Tuck, because there were no other kids to play with. *sob* 🙂 And I’m with you on the memory recall thing. Everyone else seems to be able to remember happy times, but all my childhood memories are fairly gloomy.

    1. You made your own! I am very impressed. I also love that you roped your animals into playing, I can imagine a pony being a good Friar Tuck.

Where are our happy childhood memories, Violet? I know I’ve had some, I wish I could locate them.

  2. Aah, Robin Hood, that sounds like a great game! I wish I had a little bow and arrow. 😛 Ooh and those are three books that I am adding to my to read list now. What else would that question be for. 😉 Your questions are genius, by the way. I’d answer them if I didn’t just do one myself!

  3. Aww, little Alice as Robin Hood would have been so adorable. 😀

You are never too old to learn the Violin. Maybe. I don’t know how to play it, but I am saying you can. 😛 They are probably expensive. *sob*
